"I started training with Patty in the Fall of 2021. I was a typical, out-of-shape, 50 something year old dad who had let himself go over the years - work and kids taking up way too much time. Perhaps it was turning 50 that gave me the initial motivation to reach out to Patty, or maybe I was just sick of looking at myself in the mirror, but I contacted Patty about personal training, and I couldn’t be happier that I did. Patty is the perfect balance of skilled coach, motivational drill sergeant, and nutritional guru. When my journey with Patty started, she did an initial assessment of my weight, strength, body mass index, muscle mass/size, and other measurable data that we would then track on a quarterly basis. I was embarrassed by my first data set, to be honest. While not quite the highest I had been in my life, my weight was well over where I should have been, the majority of which had relocated to my belly area. Despite working out regularly in my 20s and 30s, I had essentially lost the overwhelming majority of my muscle mass; my legs were weak; my core was - let’s just say - suboptimal, having seen many more french fries than crunches over the years; any semblance of definition in my biceps and triceps had long disappeared. Patty and I spoke about my goals: regaining muscle and losing weight, and we initially set modest and achievable goals. We discussed my diet at that time. Patty takes a very practical approach in my training - start with small attainable goals and then build from there. She taught me about how my weight loss goals could be achieved with - in addition to regular work outs - just slight modifications to my current diet; simple things like increasing water intake during the day and altering the times at which I ate meals. Her sessions are intense - but she will modify them based upon your own goals and skill level. I like a challenging work out, and Patty never fails on that front. She mixes in stretching, cardio, and strength training. During a one hour session with Patty, I have never sweat as much in my life during a work out.
Now, just over a year later, my body looks like what it did two decades ago. I’ve lost weight and gained muscle. My cardio stamina has increased, and my waistline has decreased. I fill out a t-shirt in the good way: Not in my belly area, but instead in my arms and shoulders with noticeable definition. While I still have work to do, I can’t tell you how great it is to meet with friends, colleagues, or family that I haven’t seen in a while, and their reaction upon seeing me is, “Oh my god. You look great!” I owe all of that to Patty’s professionalism, motivation, and tireless dedication to helping me achieve my goals.
